This year I was deeply inspired by the imagery of the desert, where even in the driest of conditions, flowers bloom. I went on a tear learning about the bearded vulture, and found out they subsist on a diet of 85+% bones. I was struck by this knowledge, which led me to wonder... Can I be like Vulture?
Can I find substance and nutrition in anything that life sends me? Even hard, dry bones? Even when it comes in packages that, on their face, may not be to my preference? Can I take pleasure in it even, like Vulture? Can I swallow it whole?
Can I find nutrition in the parts of MYSELF that are not to my preference? And what if the parts of myself that I have labeled as “not good" are actually just waiting for me, keeping in trust all my most vulnerable and inconvenient desires? Sometimes we can get so hung up on what we don't want, that we forget to focus on what we do.
This year has a very interesting energy that lends itself to a lot of Shadow Work. A simple explanation for what “Shadow Work" actually is, is a process of recognizing the parts of yourself that you hide from yourself and others. The name of the game is recognizing them, and lovingly integrating them into your self. Why? So that you can live a life of wholeness and build your reality from a place of deep authenticity.
I told someone recently that I was on the search for the “Electric Yes", and I didn't want to settle for anything less. What‘s the Electric Yes? It's when your whole body lights up with magic and curiosity. What if we treated that feeling as instructions from the source code of the Universe?
This year, that's my mission. To follow the Electric Yes.
One way I'm doing this is to make more space for adventures and travel in my life. Something that I dreamed of as a young adult, but rarely provided for myself, because I never used to believe that I deserved things like that. But who wants to live like that? Not I for one.
No, I am no longer willing to shove the young dreamer to the side. I would rather make peace and have her on my board of advisors.
Because desire.. True desire, the yearnings that feel big and scary and inconvenient, are never just useless wanting. Some things we desire so strongly that we resist it... Because it is a yearning from our soul. Because these things are ours already, waiting for us to step up and say yes. So that they can mold and shape us into who we are meant to be.
So, what do you say? Are you with me? Are you ready to be honest with yourself? Are you ready to feel the Electricity and surrender to its Divine Intelligence? Are you ready to commit to The Electric Yes?

Last year I wrote here about the process that I used to create this...
I put my heart and soul into this creation, and I am a one woman show. I pull all the data myself, I typeset it all, I create the art through linocut, which involves carving a block backwards and then printing it, and then digitizing them into icons to be used throughout. I print it in my home workshop, between my two altars. One of which is dedicated to Aphrodite, and the other which is my working altar, watched over by my Ancestors.

This was a creation born amidst 8+ weeks of moving very slowly, while after trying to bury my grief, my body forced me to slow down and integrate parts of myself I barely knew existed.
Last year, I wrote all about how I created with super high vibes, listening to positive music and weaving layer and layer of magic into it. This year's magic is different. This year, I was like Vulture. Picking through the bits and pieces and subsisting on bare bones. But make no mistake... It is just as (if not more) potent a medicine. The layers are still woven in. The magic is still present. May it be a steady friend to you- a mirror in which to see yourself in your full, messy glory. An oasis amidst a world of mirages, where you can tend to the sacred fire of your soul's calling.
